Your Questions About Hot Yoga Clothes

Betty asks…

Clothing for hot yoga?

I’m a guy, going to try hot yoga for the first time tomorrow. Would it be too hot to wear compression shorts and shirt (like spandex or underarmor) underneath my normal shorts and t-shirt? Thanks!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Definitely, yes. Not only to be hot, but to be comfortable too.

Wear compression shorts, then normal shorts over top (if you want).
Then just wear like a compression underarmour shirt.

Hope this helps

Mark asks…

Is it inappropriate to work out in a gym with just a sport bra style top?

I am member of a gym and I am pretty serious about staying in shape. I work out about 4 times a week and usually wear yoga pants and a t-shirt to work out but I get so sweaty that my t-shirts get unconfortable and hot. I always wonder if it ok to work out with ‘less’ clothing (sports bra only) or is it too reavealing?
I am pretty confident in my body, but I want to respect others in the gym as well.

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I would say that it depends on if the gym has a dress code, first of all. Some gyms are more specific than others on apparel and what is required.

Secondly, observe what the other patrons are wearing. If it is uncommon to see a woman wearing just a sports bra type top, you may not want to choose to wear one, as not to offend anyone or to draw unnecessary attention to yourself.

and can you wear yoga pants to school or is that just gross or something…plz help!!

10 PTS FOR BEST ANSWER! :)

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Yoga pants should only be worn if they will flatter you. So no panty line or them being super tight and showing off way to much. Sweats are very cute if they are not baggy and give off a relaxed feeling of saying hey im chillin today but rockin it. Yoga pants are kinda like saying yes im taking it easy but im still hot and showin off what i got:) id go with the yoga pants

    Ruth asks…

Our school banned skinny jeans, jeggings, and yoga pants?

Today my school made an announcement that they are banning jeggings, skinny jeans, and yoga pants because they are a “distraction” to the guys. I find it so stupid because I can see about 90% of the guys’ underwear and they don’t make them wear suspenders. Because the pattern on their boxers really distracts me -_____-

    Do you this is stupid?

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

    Definitely stupid.
If they’re going to ban those for girls, ban baggy pants for guys.

    Sandy asks…

free tank top pattern that I can adapt now?

I would like to make a simple tank top without darts out of a sheer fabric to wear under my yoga wear. Thank you for your help.

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Your local library will have a ton of pattern books or knitting pattern (which would work as well) that you can photocopy or write down and alter.

Otherwise I found this pattern and the tank top is pretty cute.

    - 10 pair tights in varying colours, patterns, and thickness
    - 1 raincoat
    - 1 blazer
    - 3 spring/fall coats
    - 1 winter jacket

Bear in mind that I, of course, do not wear athletic clothes beyond working out
Oh I was just putting stuff away so I counted stuff to help me focus(I have the attention span of a toddler) I don’t acctually keep track of this stuff.

And no, I am not bragging, I’m genuinely curious as to what, if anything I am lacking in, because, as I said, I am not practical by nature.

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Well I don’t think your bragging or anything, but I am feeling so jelous right now :P

It also depends on your style and where you live: is it usually cold, hot etc.
If I were you (I live in a place where it’s cold for 3 seasons and hot in the summer) I would get more leggings to wear under skirts and dress shirts. It’s up to you; have you ever tried to pick out an outfit and said “I really wish I had ……”?

Even if you have loads of clothes, don’t chuck them out. Youi might need them one day ;)

I’m going hiking in the Alps soon. I normally wear hiking boots but they are a bit heavy to carry while travelling, flying etc. Should I wear sports shoes instead? I’ve never worn them before while hiking.

I will be mostly walking on trails but occasionally doing a bit of scrambling over rocks to reach a summit or whatever–no ropes and crampon stuff lol

      Any advice welcome.

Lots of guys wear sports stuff, like sweatshirts, sweatpants, mesh shorts, just around as regular clothes. How come even though guys wear tights for sports too, they don’t wear them with regular clothes? It’s like guys can only wear tights if they have an excuse. I think they’re cool to wear, so I don’t get it.

Is it okay for me to only wear sports bras?

Ever since I hit puberty, I’ve never worn anything other than sports bras. No wired bras or anything. Does this effect my breasts/anything else?
