Your Questions About How To Wear A Suit

Robert asks…

How to look look rebellious Punk/Emo in a suit and tie?

Ok so I go to a catholic school and We have to wear Suit and Tie I cant stand the black pants and white shirt I do wear black shirt red tie but I wana look like a normal teenager what kind of clothing styles will be decent for a catholic school and will look Punk/Emo

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Wear the tie a little looser and make sure the top 2 buttons are undone.
Wear converse or vans, if you’re allowed to wear sneakers.
Mess up your hair! Give it the messy spikes! A good example of hair like this is how Robert Pattinson does it. It’s like the “just rolled out of bed” hair. (not a Twilight fan, but it’s just a suggestion)

William asks…

What kind of dress am I supposed to wear for 8th grade graduation?

What kind of dresses are we supposed to wear for 8th grade graduation. I think its formal, cuz the boys wear suits, but what type of dresses are we supposed to wear? If you could put a link that would be great, or if you just describe a dress or just say how formal it’s supposed to be, and that type of thing, it would be VERY helpful. Thank you!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

You should look for a dress that is semi-formal and age-appropriate. Maybe a fun party dress in a bright color. You should try Overstock.com. They have a lot of very pretty dresses for less. I’m sure you will find something you like there.

Thomas asks…

Why is baseball the only professional sport where coaches wear uniforms?

In the NBA, they are required to wear suits and ties. How funny would it be to see Phil Jackson in a Lakers uniform?

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I always figured it was because baseball is the only sport where the managers/coaches actually set foot on the field/court during the game. Imagine Joe Torre coming out to the mound to make a pitching change in a suit and tie….

Ken asks…

What do people usually wear to their high school graduation?

Daniel asks…

Fashion Experts- Can I wear sheer black pantyhose tomorrow?

I work in a really nice financial planning firm where everyone wears suits, dress pants or dresses. I was going to wear my black skirt with black shoes and sheer black pantyhose tomorrow. But I know that there were some rules about how you aren’t supposed to wear them until after Labor Day, but a lot of the Labor Day rules have been thrown out. So is it ok to do that? I really don’t want to go back to wal-mart at 10:30 pm.
I was reading InStyle magazine today and they said that black pantyhose with black shoes are going to be a big trend for fall.

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

That would look great!

Is wearing a sports coat or suite jacket too dressed up for a job interview?

I’ve been to many job interviews. Here latly I find myself on the hunt again for a job that fiits my schedule as I started back to school but m,ust work while in school. Is it poor etiquet to wear a full suit? Is just a dress shirt and nice silk tie OK? I used to be so entrenched in a different career that when I got out I thought to myself,”Yes! But I don’t even know how to wear one of these.” But times have changed and I do wear suits. I just heard someone say a suit to a job interview is too dressed up. I thought it would give mke a bit of an edge or a leg up on the competition. WRONG!

      Yoga Wear Guru answers:

You can never be too smart for an interview, only too casual! And i’ve always been told to dress for the position you wish to gain, not the position you hold!

      Daniel asks…

On one particular day on the street i saw and counted 17 people wearing exactly the same color shirt/dress…?

But they were not related or belong to any groups with common interest, nor were they back from attending the same function. They were 17 total strangers who didn’t know each other. Some were wearing T-Shirts (of different designs and brands), one person was wearing his company shirt, two (a customer and person at a fruit stall) were wearing casual jackets of different styles, a boy was wearing a full sports attire bearing the name of his sports event at school…etc, you got what i mean… and they are are standing/walking within 2-3 meters from each other… How could such a neat co-incidence happen?

I am thin and without them i would really have good body.I was scouted by model agent once and i was wearing a bomber jacket. He said he was amazed how pretty i was.Than after we called my parents and went to agency they took my measurements they said that they were sorry but my beats were way too big. They kept me there whole day trying to decide “what to do with me” and at the end determinated that small beasts are if not most then one of most important requierments to be a model. Now my self esteem is tuined and i fell like cutting them off. I sometimes think they belong to other person.I am willowy and thin and they are just disgusting bags of fat. They are so ewww.I cry every day to my parents to let me get breast reduction but they won’t even listen.I already wear sports bra and minimizers.Clothes suits me horribly.

How many sizes up should I get an overcoat?

I need to buy an overcoat to wear over my suits and sports jackets. Do the sizes on the overcoat factor in the extra bulk of theses garments or do I need to go up a size or two to compensate?

      Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I can only say from personal experience–do NOT get an overcoat that is too big–you will look like a flasher about to strike!
Buy in your correct size– It makes sense that overcoats are sized to go over clothes…

Perhaps you could look on the internet for the footballer that you are looking for, and see if you can contact them through their agent directly? You could easily try searching in google or yahoo etc with the footballers name, which is a start?

Or you could advertise your sports wear products in newspapers etc? You could even go to a celebrity event where footballers are featured perhaps-and take along products and advertising material to give to their agent or representative?

          Joseph asks…

I want thinner legs. Any help?

I’m fifteen and I have a really, really bad problem with self appearance. I think I’m fat. I already have cellulite on my thighs! I’ve tried doing Pilates a few times every day and no difference. I want to be myself and wear skinny jeans. I feel so embarrassed walking in front of people….I just have such low confidence….I don’t want to, but I can’t help it! Please, help me!

          Yoga Wear Guru answers:

We’ve all had problems with poor self image. Right now, im just getting through that mindset. I’m working out five days a week and not only am i transforming my body but its also transforming my negative mindset to a positive one.

There are some great workouts for toning your legs. For toning you’ll want to do a lighter weight and do some more reps. That means lift it a lighter weight more times versus heavy weights less time. That will build mass.

          -Squats
          -Leg Press
          -Hamstring Curls
          -Lunges

          www.teenbodybuilding.com has some great exercises.

As for transforming your mindset to a more positive one, I read a book by Joel Osteen titles” Your Best Life Now”

          Low Carb Dieting Tip
Your rate of metabolism dictates how many calories you burn. Heredity, gender, age, body size. Diet and nutrition, activity level, and your overall health factor in on determining how high or low your metabolism is. It is normal for metabolism levels to lower as a person ages. Because of this it is important to begin stepping up your exercise routines in your thirties and forties.

          Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

Eat Regularly – Eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day will give you energy throughout the day–helping you to burn calories. Whereas, calories eaten during larger meals tend to get stored as fat.
Maintain a Balanced Diet – Not only how often you eat is important, but your food choices are equally as important. Nurture you body with the appropriate balance of protein and carbs.

Eating whole foods rather than processed food gives your digestive system a workout that burns calories. For example: choose an apple over apple juice.
Workout with Weights – Building muscle mass will replace stored fat. As you build muscle tissue your metabolism increases.
Don’t Forget Cardio – You need to get that heart rate up and breathe a little heavier. Twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular activity 5 days a week is recommended. Brisk walking or swimming are good. Or utilize exercise equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical trainer).

          5 pounds in a week?

I’m going to Ireland in 3 weeks and by then I want to look good so I can wear a bathing suit. Believe me I spend every waking hour worried about my weight and I know that it’s dangerous to lose 5 pounds in a week and that the ideal is 1 to 2 pounds but I don’t have time for that! I just need to know from experience if it’s possible. If I workout with Taeobo 5 times a week and eat about 1000 calories a day ( I know that you don’t think that’s ideal either) can I lose 15 pounds in 3 weeks. cliche- I want to be as thin as Angeline Jolie in Girl, Interrupted (that’s my ideal)it may be a crash diet but I won’t have the money of time in Ireland to overeat and I’ll be walking everywhere. CAN I LOSE? Also, is winsor pilates a good workout. How long does it take for results, say – how long do you have to keep up to lose a pound?
I also multiplied how many steps I need to take to 3,500 calories (1lb) and 1000 calories a day to figure out how many steps I need to take to burn 1lb a day

          Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Its gonna be pretty dam tough, I would try doing a heavy duty HIT routine.

          Donna asks…

          Shorts appropriate for my age?

I’ve never really worn shorts as I was a bit conservative growing up but knee length really don’t suit my shape as my legs aren’t long enough and makes them look bulky. Im 20 and have toned lean fit legs as im a runner and cyclist and do pilates and would like to be able to wear shorts and enjoy being young.

Im not going to wear short shorts but am considering mid thigh length or slightly above. Teamed for example with slightly loose but not baggy white tee-shirts and a brown belt.

I’ve seen forums online which state that only teens should wear shorts? However I have older friends through acting classes (aged 26-28) who still look youthful and wear shorts well. Is it alright to wear shorts in your twenties and early thirties if you have the legs for it? and balance it out by dressing conservatively on top?

Oh and yes im from the southern hemisphere so its summer here! :-)

          Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Yeah its fine stop wearing shorts once you get fat or reach 35. Whichever comes first.

          i need help!! gym attire??!?

I am a member at a gym that is nearby and i love going to classes like bodycombat, bodystep, bodypump, pilates etc.. i was wondering is it okay if i wear spandex shorts to class or no??

          Yoga Wear Guru answers:

First, I assume you are female. A male should not wear spandex shorts to the gym ever, except bike shorts for spinning. For women, if you are comfortable in spandex, you may wear it. Some clubs like the Y or JCC are more conservative and expect less form fitting clothes, but this is the exception.. Also, when you are in class, remember that you will be bent over, posing, etc. Are you comfortable with people being able to see you in that position? Other than that, the gym is about having fun and doing something for yourself. Enjoy.

I’m fifteen and not so confident with my body!?

I’m fifteen years old, five foot seven and weigh 143 pounds. I don’t know if that’s over weight yet, but It disgusts me to look at the scale and see such high numbers. I’m still only between a 3 and a 5 in pant sizes, but it’s increasing quickly, and I hate it. I’ve noticed I’m starting to get stretch marks on my thighs, and I don’t know how to lose this weight. I’m afraid to go in public without big baggy clothes on and I always wear a jacket to school fearing people will call me fat. Plus the fact that this 143 pounds is right in my stomach and thighs, I don’t have a butt or big boobs! Haha. My legs used to be my best asset and I was so proud of them, but they’re fading. I’ve decided to go on a strict diet of salad, and few snacks, but what should my workout regimen be? Should I change it daily, or do the same things everyday. I don’t have any equipment, besides a pilates dvd and a bike. My main question is about what my workout should be. I really want to lose the weight in the stomach and thighs, and work on those most. My second question is what should I be eating, how many calories, how often do I eat,…is three decent size meals better, or should I divide it into six small meals? And should I eliminate sweets completely or eat them every once in a while to prevent binging on other foods? Plus I have no sense of determination, I mean I wanna lose the weight, but I just can’t force myself to go run or anything!

And don’t leave me answers saying, just find confidence in how you look, or find clothes that compliment your curves.
I wanna change how I look to fit how I wanna look,
Not change how I wanna look to fit how I already look.

Please help, I’m so depressed, and not confident.
Oh and I’m starting with drinking a lot more water,
Can you ever drink too much of it?

            Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Exercise and the right eating habits are really the only secret to good health.

You should get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day; this can be walking around your neighborhood, swimming or you can take up a sport, just get active. The worst thing you can do is sit in front of the TV or computer all day.

It is important to include lots of veggies and fruits and raw nuts in your diet. Raw nuts provide an excellent source of healthy fats that your body needs. But you can’t live on just salad, your body needs other things as well. Chicken and fish are good; though you should limit your intake of red meats to once a week. You need to eat them to get enough protein in your diet. Its also best to eat several small meals a day instead of 3 big ones, it’ll boost your metabolism.

(sidenote: a few months ago, I cut all dairy products out of diet completely and I lost like 30 pounds. Dairy products tend to be fatty. If you do cut out dairy, than it is important that you find another source of calicium. I know that this isn’t for everyone and I’m not necessarily suggesting that you do it, it just worked for me.

            Best of Luck!!! :)

            Weight loss help(more info inside)?

Two weeks ago I went to my dad’s place in Massachusetts for my week off from school. He got new weights for his birthday and he let me use them and gave me some workouts to do with them, as well as push ups and crunches.I also went for long walks. I lost 11 pounds over there. now I’m back at my mom’s place in New York and I gained 8 pounds back. :( I need help losing more weight and keeping it off. At my dad’s place I don’t eat a lot, and I try not to over here but my mom always orders take out and my dad and stepmom actually cook. I also have trouble keeping up with exercising over here because I’m so used to being lazy 24/7, even though I do work out.

I also really need help with this because I’m really self-conscious about how my body looks. I’m 15, going to be 16 on March 16. I used to go to a Catholic all boys school but I hated it there and had problems so my mom withdrew me and now I’m going to a public school in Long Island where we’re moving by the end of the month. I’ve never been to public school before, and I don’t want the kids there to treat me like crap because of how I look. At the all boys school, no one really cared about that. I don’t know how it’s gonna be at my new school.

I have no self-esteem or self-confidence. I’m paranoid that I’m always going to get rejected, which is why I’ve passed up on some opportunities that would’ve made me happier. Plus, I was really depressed last year, especially over the summer, and I don’t want to end up really depressed again because I hate the way I look. I got some new clothes a few weeks ago, especially 2 pairs of black jeans, which I’ve wanted for such a long time. I have a pair of the jeans the same size, except the newer ones are longer. The thing is that the new ones are tighter than the older ones. I want to lose weight so I can wear them, and smaller clothes in general. I’m not that big, but finding clothes I like in my size is such a pain. Also, it gets annoying when people say I look like a grizzly bear. -_-’

I need some advice, tips, anything. Please. Thanks for listening everyone.

Sounds like you’ve got extra skin from weighing 280, not really a whole lot you can do to get rid of that.

            Lizzie asks…

What do you think…is it true that ANYONE can have defined, flat abs?

They say women’s bodies come in all different shapes and sizes. Well, some girls are born with bodies that naturally seem perfect, no matter what they eat or how often (or not often) the work out. While others are born with bodies that remain overweight from childhood, past the adolescent ages, through adulthood. And then there are people who aren’t necessarily “fat” and are the average weight for their age and height, but are still soft. They look fine in most clothing but sometimes need to take care that they buy looser fitting tops, or their thyes and stomach jiggle ever so slightly when they are wearing bathing suits.

For example, i am a softball player and cheerleader. A girl on my cheer team drinks and eats whatever she wants, always drinks and eats fast food on the weekends, and hardly ever works out (let’s be honest…high school cheerleading workouts at my school are not exactly tough) but has always been and still remains absolutely tiny, with perfectly proportioned features.
            5′ 4″ and 100 lbs

A girl i’ve played softball with for years has always stayed active, but doesn’t eat the best, and is farr overweight, always has been.
            5′ 6″ 180ish lbs

And I was always relatively small, but as i grew up and went through puberty i became the third type. I am 5′ 4ish” and between 115 and 120 lbs. I work out almost every day and have become increasingly concious of what i eat compared to how active I’ve been day by day. Yet i still have some jiggle, and almost an inch or two of fat around my midsection.

My friend has a petite body figure–5′ 3″ and used to be the most active out of anyone. When she she was diagnosed with Anorexia, she ran 5-8 miles a day, with weights/circuit training/etc. A total of 3 hours or working out a day. Plus the fact that she hardly ate anything at all. Even when she was 90 lbs and had hardly any fat on her body, she still did not have flat or defined abs–and trust me, she worked more on her abs than on anything else. More than anywhere else, she still had a LITTLE bump of fat on her lower stomach…with her strict dieting i feel like theoretically that should not have been the case at all.

So what do you think? Is it simply the sad truth that some body types simply can’t obtain those flat, “six pack” abs, the perfect body, while others naturally have the luxery of such a tight body? I’m just curious because I’m freakishly obsessed with fitness and body type, ha.

I did read the whole thing. Your welcome.

You can’t choose where you lose fat. I’m male, and all my fat is in my butt and on my obliques. You can overtrain abs like you can any muscle. People think about abs differently because they aren’t visibly functional: they just help your torso move unlike your biceps or back. The obliques are a pain. Some people mistake obliques for love handles. Quite often, training abs hard (especially with a twist) or doing side bends will result in larger obliques and a fat like appearance. The body is made to be thin and muscular, not necessarily vascular, but muscular. The key is to get your body to use fat for fuel, instead of carbs. You do that by removing your intake of starches and sugars. Vegetables are still okay. You just can’t have wheat, corn, potatoes, or soy. Then every 4th day, you should eat plenty of carbs to keep your metabolism burning fat. See, the body doesn’t want to lose fat. It likes homeostasis.

You can have a tight body. With weight training, you can change your butt and boobs even. You can dramatically change your appearance with solid diet and proper training.

As far as body type goes, I was always scrawny. As a kid, I used to be ripped, but my lifestyle got busier and by the time I was a teenager I had high cholesterol and was fatter. I was never huge, but I was pretty pudgy. I started riding my bike everyday. I’d ride 20-25 miles in the afternoon. I lost a lot of fat that way, but I didn’t gain any definition. Then I learned about nutrition and how to eat properly. Currently I eat nothing but meat, eggs, butter, and greens. And some fruit on occasion. I have small bones, broad shoulders for my height, but since I’ve been weight training the size of my chest makes me look narrower. I’ve always had huge muscular thighs and some visible veins. It’s just how to it happens. I’ll never have small thighs, but I can make everything bigger until I’m satisfied.

What is it with people and there hate for faith 21 from the forever 21 store?

I don’t get it? I was in forever 21 store today when i saw this much thinner girl walking through and scolding the faith 21 section. I don’t understand why is it such a big deal to everyone that they’re making more fashionable clothes for plus size women. Don’t they deserve to look just as good as anyone else or are thinner women afraid of the competition? In case some don’t know some women are just naturally born with a thicker build. Surprisingly some of them still workout but they have to face the fact that they will never be a thin supermodel or measure anywhere around that. I am not plus size but i feel for women who are because i know how hard it is to try to live up to society standards of perfection and of the ideal body type.

What are your views on this subject? What is the big deal @ women who turn there nose up at faith 21?

            Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I’m not familiar with the brand myself, but the same thing can be witnessed when it comes to any other plus size line of clothing. I’m not sure exactly the reason, but it could be jealousy. They might be jealous that some people have curves that they will never have. A lot of it comes from disgust. They think that people that are bigger are gross, lazy, inferior etc. And that they don’t deserve the same stuff they do. It could also just be the way they were raised (parents, friends, media). I know the difficulties of being bigger than average. I’m not exactly a plus size, but I’m over endowed(or so it would seem) in certain areas of my body so I have to get an even bigger size than normal. This, plus the way others seem to view larger figures makes it difficult for them to find clothes that fit them. I feel that I’ve rambled on enough for now though. ^_^

              Your Questions About Hot Yoga

              Joseph asks…

              Hot Yoga question?

Has anyone done hot yoga and seen weight loss?

              Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Yes. I’ve done it. Just imagine doing Yoga in a Sauna Room for about an hour….The heat initially draws the water retention out your body so you will already feel leaner once your done. Also heat increases the Heart Rate so your HR is constantly in the Fat Burning zone. Are you starting to get the picture so with that picture top it with different yoga poses and moves…

              hot yoga…………do or don’t?

I am guessing that the hot yoga in the 98 degrees is bad but I was thinking maybe the wood class in only 89-90 degrees would be ok….?

You can not do that type of yoga, get into a prenatal yoga class

              Richard asks…

              hot yoga? (bikrams yoga)?

has anyone ever done hot yoga (aka bikrams yoga)? What results did you find(did it help to lose weight or get toned)? Would you recommend it?

              Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I know someone who did do it. The hot room allows for more flexibility, but it’s probably not very pleasant. You will probably not lose too much more weight than if you did regular yoga because it is simply depleting your body of its water content.
