Ken asks…
What is the hardest workout program you can suggest (without going to the gym more than once a week) ?
I need something effective and on the insane side of challenging. I don’t have access to any weird or special equipment (yoga balls, climbing ropes or gear, parachutes, etc…), so that stuff is out of the question. I need a workout program that will incorporate as many elements of physical fitness as possible (strength, endurance, speed, pain tolerance, stretching, nutrition, and long lasting fitnes). Your suggestions are appreciated.

You should seriously consider Pilates. Pilates is a totaly body fitness system developed by Joseph Pilates decades ago. The system focuses on complete strength using your own body as resistence as well as flexibility and health.
Pilates has enjoyed a resurging popularity recently as dancers and other performers have found it to be effective and fast. Once it took hold it found it’s way into classes in gyms all over the world.
There are devices used in some pilates classes but none of these are necessary. If you pick up some literature on the exercises taught by the creator and do them faithfully every day you will not even recognize your body in 3 months.

Sharon asks…
Is it okay to wear Under Armour Cold Gear Leggings in the summer when it is hot?
If it is not okay, please tell me where to get Heat Gear Leggings for a good price. I love wearing leggings when I workout (with shorts over them) because they are comfortable and help keep my muscles relaxed and keeps me going. So please let me know what you all think.

Thomas asks…
Going to start boxing in September, need good brands for gloves/places to buy gear..?
Hello, i plan to begin boxing in September, and was wondering where i could purchase gear, I live in Boston, so any place near there would be great…even if its in a surrounding town. Also, online websites to purchase it would be fine to
And here are many brands of boxing gear available, (i.e. Everlast…) which reigns supreme? Ive heard everlast sucks…any truth to this?
Also, could you tell me what other gear i will need other than:
Gloves
Hand Wraps
Workout gear
gym bag
or is that it?

Well you need to get training gloves most guys wear at least 16oz but girls use 14oz but if you want you can hang with the boys then get 16oz. If you want to go all out you can buy a pair of bag gloves, but the thing is bag gloves can only be used for certain drills while training gloves can do everything.
As for brands grant and cleto reyes are handmade mexican gloves popular among heavy hitters(they hurt more to get hit by than other gloves) but if you are a beginner it might be hard on your hands and they are kinda expensive
rival are canadian gloves also high quality and they cost alot but i’ve heard many many good reviews about them
winning is also a japanese company some boxers go to but the gloves cost way to much unless your competing and you have fragile hands
ringside and title are pretty good for their price
many people out there dont like everlast. I’ve had my exprience with everlast which didnt offer any support, protection, comfort, and fell apart within a month, but i also bought the cheap synthetic gloves from academy sports store. Maybe the more expensive leather gloves are better but like i said ive heard many reviews of people saying everlast sucks(many boxing, mma forum, guys at the gym and my coach). Definitely DO NOT buy any gloves from a sporting store because they tend to sell cheap synthetic versions of gloves order online or go up to a martial art store or a boxing gym they’ll have good leather gloves to buy.
I have a pair of title gel 16oz gloves and i dont have anything bad to say about them, also i tried some ringside imf and they offer alot of protection over the fist, but they are huge, like boxing with pillows
look to spend at least $50 for some gloves and $6-$10 for some wraps
i like getting mexican wraps at least 180inches because the more you wrap your hands the more protection from breaking the tiny bones in your hands it also allows you to wrap between your fingers stabilizing your knuckles. To me it does matter what bramd but ringside has a good deal on em 10 pairs for $19
http://www.ringside.com/detail.aspx?ID=25920
wraps do lose their elasticity after a while so you do have to replace them every so often and thats a good deal to stock up on em
i dont have any headgear so i dont have any reviews on that but im sure its gonna be about the same quality from the different brands as the gloves
mouthpiece i just got a cheap century boil and bite one from academy for a few dollars definitely not the best but its working for me and its cheap enough to stock up on, but the more expensive ones like shock doctor often has a dental warranty up to a certain amount of money price of em range from $10-$30, however nothin beats a custom fit mouthpiece from your dentist but that is pretty costly probably at least $100
gym bag i have a cheap dufflebag from walmart think it cost like $5 and its ripping places…you get what you pay for. Any repectable brand can make an ok bag im an ex-soccer player so i’d go with adidas i just dont wanna dish out like $40 $50 for a bag
shorts i just wear adidas basketball shorts(can u tell i like adidas) and a athletic works wicking tee from walmart which is an offbrand under armour shirt which is really good about keeping you cool and you dont get all that sweat weighing down your shirt; but i have nothing bad to say about the offbrand one it does its job

http://www.ringside.com
they have all the gloves i mentioned above but you can also do to each’s website

Linda asks…
How do you workout and where?
I’m specifically interested in push ups, but in general is okay too. When you workout, do you use a hardwood floor? Carpet? Basement concrete? What? I’m thinking about starting the P90X workout to get in shape, but I’m afraid I don’t have anywhere safe to do the exercises. I’ve poked around the site and they seem to be using all this extra gear that needs to be placed on a cement or hardwood floor, but I’d still like to know if I can workout just fine on a plush carpet.
