Sandy asks…

What do you wear to an open interview?

I will be attending an open interview today and I was wondering if I should dress like I would for a scheduled interview, or if I should dress more casual. For my last scheduled interview, I wore a suit. Is that a good idea in this situation, or should I just make sure I still look nice?

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Dress for a scheduled interview. It doesn’t hurt to look professional no matter what

Jenny asks…

Asked to come for a ‘chat’,What to wear?

So i recently went for a job as an Assistant Property Manager.
I have been asked if i want to come in to the place for a chat.
What should i wear to this chat? Should i wear interview clothes?
Also i have a goatee and a pony tail im thinking of getting a hair cut before i meet them.
What do you guys think?

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I would recommend that you dress professionally (button up shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, etc.). If you aren’t too attached to your ponytail and you are willing to give it up i think you should go for it. If it is long enough consider donating the pony tail to an organization like locks of love. Good luck with your “chat”!

Michael asks…

What to wear to interview to cover tattoos?

I have an up coming interview.
Do you think I should wear a White Long Sleve T-Shirt dress marerial (the dress is fairly long) with Indian Mocassins(SP.?) for shoes? I do not have any dress shoes? I am trying to cover the tattoos for at least the interview. This is the only light weight clothing I have to go to a REAL Professional Interview! Any Ideas? Nail Polish Colors?

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

If you really want the job? Dress as professional as you can. Always cover your tats until you know the mood of the company and what they allow etc…If you don’t have any dress shoes use what you have or hit up wal mart. I always cover my tats and dress to impress even though i freakin hate it, but it does matter and it does help if you really want the job. GOod luck, hope you get the job.

George asks…

What to wear to interview within the company I work for?

What do you think I should wear to an interview at the company I already work for? It’s just for a different position in a different department, and I’m not sure if I should wear a suit or not. My coworkers would be suspicious, since I usually wear pants and a nice top most of the time.

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Always dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Every day.

Chris asks…

What to wear to interview at casual restaurant?

I have an interview today at the Wagamama noodle bar chain. The uniform for servers is a tshirt and I beleive black pants. I do not want to over dress. My mother suggested white dress pants since it is summer. I thought I would wear a cotton collared shirt in dark blue and maybe some heeled sandals. Or should I wear black pants and a white dress shirt? I think the first outfit may leave more of an impression and make me stand out. Any advice is appreciated!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Go with your gut instinct. White tea-shirt black pants.

    Your Questions About Workout Gear

    Mandy asks…

I want to play hockey and need tips?

I only own a pair of skates which i haven’t even gotten to try out yet, no gear, stick or even puck.
I am not very good, but i can skate pretty fast, and stop.
I used to be a very good rollerblader but I haven’t done that in years.
I want to be a hockey player, I really like hockey and skating.
It is too late to do anything this year besides workout and free skate for an hour about 2 times a week.
    what can i do

    thank you

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

If I remember correctly, Dominic Hasek started at about 13 yrs. Old and became one of the most successful (if not unorthodox) goalies in the NHL.

If you want to play ice hockey, learn to skate well (forward, backwards, even sideways) without a stick before complicating matters (and possibly frustrating you) by integrating passing, shooting and puck handling into your game.

My advise is to get the skating down before investing in equipment.

If you are ready for equipment, check out the site below for equipment deals, discounts, close outs, new product lines and training aids to DVDs at great prices:

    Carol asks…

can bodybuilding be bad for you?

im 20 and i weigh 180 (6 feet tall). i bulked up tons in the past years, and gained 27 pounds of muscle. i take protein and cycle creatine and a natural testosterone booster. i work out 5-6 days a week with at least 2 days rest between muscle groups. my workouts are geared to 8-10 reps.

can this training be bad for me? my parents have been saying this is bad for my heart and stuff.
    ps i dont do steroids

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

No- exercise increases heart function, but not in a bad way. Steroids however are bad for your heart. Don’t worry- as long as you have enough rest, you’ll be fine…

    Mary asks…

what gear ratio should I use on my bicycle?

I recently purchased a single speed bicycle, mainly for fitness purposes. I loved the difficulty of it when I first got it. I was guaranteed a good cardiovascular workout each and every time I rode it. Now that I’ve gotten stronger, however, I can only really achieve the same workout with frequent sprinting which isn’t all that practical. I’ve been looking at information relating to gear ratios but am totally confused. My tire size is 700 x 23, my cranks are 177 and my front and rear gears are 46 and 16. I’d like for pedaling to be substantially more difficult, but not so difficult that I risk injury, or that the fun is completely eliminated for lack of being able to reach any appreciable speed. I’d also like to avoid going through the trouble of changing the gears only to find that my new setup won’t work for some mechanical reason I’m not yet realizing, or that the increase in difficulty is negligible. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

    Yoga Wear Guru answers:

These are the inherent limitations of a one-speed bike.
It has to be a low enough gear to accellerate from a stop comfortably – and to go up hills that you are likely to encounter.
On the other hand, you sacrifice high end speed for those other considerations.
If you are bigger and stronger and out grown your old gear ratio – you might want to go up to a bigger chain ring. But you might change and just not like it – so keep your old parts so that you can go back if you need to.
I think that 46-16 is pretty close to what I have, but I don’t know off hand. I sometimes ride with people who have a one – speed that’s a larger chain ring and they do fine. But I like to be able to get up hills now and then without walking, so I leave my chainring as it is.

I get my best workout on long, steady climbs. On the flats – you just need to keep pedaling – and that is a decent aerobic workout – just keep on plugging away – with the occasional sprint.

I ride a geared road bike for workouts more often – but the occasional one-speed ride is a good break in the routine – and easier for those times when I am just getting around town.

On those long climbs – I find myself flying past people who are on geared bikes, as they tend to shift down too much too early. If the hill tilts up too much, they start passing me back again as I can’t go up the steeps too well on my big gear.

    Good luck.

    James asks…

how can i get abs and muscle over time?

DONT F****N SPAM BS IM SERIOUS
im a teen, im not fat but im not skinny either (im more of an in-between). i want to get abs (yeah, what guy doesnt lol) i wanna look good and feel good so im serious of getting lean.

i dont want to hear about BS “muscle” foods or supplements, no gym memberships, no getting workout gear, no crazy food diets, no ‘anything that requires my money’ etc… im hoping anyone can answer ALL my questions

    1) for my arms, i cant really do push-ups so are there any specific workouts that build arm muscle gradually over time (i broke my shoulder a year ago so i dont want to over-exert my arms)

    2) how can i build leg muscle (im into soccer so i want to increase the power of my kicks)

    3) what kinds of foods should i avoid and what can i eat that will crave my hunger and give me energy (and i can easily find in a supermarket)

    4) how should i space out my workout routines (for example 1 hour aerobic, one day then an hour or 2 of anaerobic exercises the next or 2 days workout) just give me an idea of how i should workout properly

    5) how can i start working out ( i don’t want to start out too hard. i want to be able to get into it gradually and then challenge myself)

    6) for my ab muscles, what can i do that will burn fat and what workout routines can i follow

    7) how can i stay motivated with my workout routines everyday?

dont give me short, 2 sentence answers (i hate that) i would appreciate it if anyone can give me a good idea on what to do. thanx

      Your Questions About Lululemon

      Paul asks…

What are the best fabrics to reduce the amount of sweat on you?

If I were to buy a specific type of sweater to exercise in, what kind should I buy? Is it good quality? Is Luon (the fabric from Lululemon) good? What are your experiences?

      Yoga Wear Guru answers:

You would want to go for a technical fabric for exercising. Most of these will be synthetic, but work the best. Most natural fibers such as cotton will actually hold onto the sweat, where as a technical fabric will help you dry faster.
There are a lot of types of technical wear out there and it’s important to get what works best for you. I would recommend trying a vareity of them on and talking with people at the store so you find the product that suits your needs.

      Hope this helped

      Joseph asks…

What other stores are good for a teen girl?

I’m 17 and am looking for new stores with nice clothes.

So of my favourite brands/designers are:

      Lululemon
      Lacoste
      American Apparel
      Ralph Lauren
      BB Dakota
      French Connection

I have never been a fan of TNA, Hollister, Aeropostale, Abercrombie and Fitch and such stores. I like current fashions, but I don’t want to be exactly like everyone else. Are there any other good stores I am forgetting??

Why is Wall Street going lulu over Lululemon Apparel Inc. (LULU)?

Not sure, but I did see it prominently displayed in an issue of Investors Business Daily just a few days ago – must be a highly recommended stock
