Your Questions About Exercise Clothing

Steven asks…
Staying fit during the winter without much money?
During the summer I walk 4 miles a day on weekdays and 8 miles a day on weekend. It’s getting to be about -20 and we’ve been having snowstorms. I don’t really have much money but I want to stay healthy. I don’t have exercise clothes either (I don’t own pants or flat shoes). I’m 5’6 135 lbs and have 18% body fat.

Get an exercise video from the library and do what you can on the worst days.
If you need good, warm clothes try going to your local Salvation Army or Thrift store.

You dont need any fancy clothes that “enhance your abilities” just wear basic warm clothes, if its TOO cold, try running in place in your house for however long you wouldve walked before. Rememeber, good diet for staying fit to, good luck

It sounds like you’re pretty busy! I would say that everyone could always use more exercise (I wish I would listen to my own advice!), but honestly, it’s not always possible when you have so many things to do everyday. Between keeping up with your baby and doing all sorts of house chores and errands and such, you probably get a decent amount of exercise. The real question is do you think you need to exercise? If your answer is yes, then maybe you could join a gym (like Gold’s Gym). I know they have a daycare area and you can drop your baby off (I’m pretty sure it’s free/included in your membership dues) while you work out for say, 45 minutes or an hour each day. They usually have all kinds of machines and classes you can take and sometimes they’ll have a pool. Swimming is one of the best ways to exercise. You could swim a few laps everyday and maybe use some machines at the gym as well. (The people who work there will explain how to use all of the machines if you ask.)
If you don’t want to join a gym, you could walk/run up and down the stairs several times, do crunches on the floor, “lift weights” by using a gallon of milk or laundry detergent (just make sure the cap is on tight), work your lower abs by doing leg lifts, work your thighs and bottom by doing squats, etc.
Just a few ideas. Hope they help some!
