Quitting smoking and constipation/bloating?

So I quit smoking cold turkey around 3-4 weeks ago. And I have been very bloated and irregular/constipated since then.

I talked to my doctor and I told them nothing had changed in my lifestyle except that…

I actually quit smoking because everything else I do is so healthy I needed to kick the habit! I eat very well, I do yoga 3x a week, and cardio workouts maybe 4x a week. And I haven’t started eating more as a result of quitting, so I knew it wasn’t weight gain, in fact I have started exercising more to help kick the urge.

Well my doc told me constipation and bloating is a common side effect when people quit since nicotine is a stimulant. She suggested I drink prune juice and take stool softeners and that things will soon regulate.

But I wanted to know, if any of you have experienced this, how long till it regulates?!?!?! I feel so uncomfortable AND I can’t wear my fitted outfits because my belly pooches out now! It’s awful! I feel like picking up smoking again just to poop and not be bloated!

Please tell me how long you had these side effects, if you had them, and what to expect. Ugh!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Just go with prune juice or prunes, that other stuff isn’t needed. You’ll find the time and amount to get things done. It won’t work the way you expect, your stomach would be more messed up, like an assembly line going really slow, then being speeded up, but it’s it several sections, so just because one section is ready to go, doesn’t mean the next one is, and that will just make matter worse. Just be patient. Look to making changes to your diet temporarily, it won’t last much longer, and a temporary little belly, is far far better then all the hell cigarettes are. So hang tough, you can do it.

How can I make the calf of my leg smaller?

To start out, I do not do heavy workouts. The most I do is walking an hour a day plus yoga. I’m in the midst of losing weight. I’ve lost maybe 20 lbs already. I get how to tone your thighs but my calf on the other hand..phew. I’ve always had larger calves. People say it’s genetics but seriuously, everyone in my family has small ass calves. They are a bit muscular but they are still ‘jiggly’ when I’m not standing on them. I can’t wear shorts, my thigh highs or and type of boot. I’m forced to wear pants because I hate my legs. Is there any way to get rid of large calves?

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Curb lifts.

Put your toes on a curb (or low step of some kind), then raise yourself up on your toes.

You may have larger calves due in part to muscle. If you were particularly larger and are losing weight now, your legs might be stronger from having carried the extra weight around. Good calves are a nice feature to have, so don’t fret too much. Do the curb lifts, stand on tiptoes over-and-over while carrying weight, or go to a gym and there will be specialized machines to help.

How to reduce facial redness (best creams)?

I have red skin on both sides of my nose almost all the time, sometimes the redness extends under my eye area and cheeks. I have very sensitive skin and the redness gets worse, if I stress about something, when I’m outside the house (it doesn’t matter, if it’s cold or hot) or one week before my period. The only time I have a very even toned skin, is during exercise and especially right after exercise (intense workout). I workout everyday in the morning or evening or both. The effect lasts about 15 minutes, so it’s not really a permanent solution.
I tried many creams, Eucerine, Avene, La Roche Posay,…some home remedies like green tea, chamomile, tea tree,…All the creams, that I’ve tried were to oily for me. I have a combination skin, so my forehead, area around my mouth an under my cheeks are very dry, but my nose and a little bit of my cheeks get very oily during the day and sometimes I get zits there and my blackheads are “permanent”. I can’t really clean my pores on my nose, because the redness gets out of control.
I do yoga too calm myself, but the redness still persists. I don’t like wearing foundation or green/yellow concealer, because I’m too sensitive for it (belive me, I tried everything for sensitive skin) and gets oily, so I was wondering if a foundation primer would help to even out my skin tone (like Chanel base lumiere,…) or maybe you know of some creams that really help getting rid of redness.
P.S. The red colour isn’t that prominent (only when I rub my skin very hard), it’s more patchy looking, I don’t really know how to explain it. Maybe like a very very early sign of rosacea
(I’m 20years old, I have light skin complexion, natural blonde/orange hair, I coloured it black now to tone down the redness and I have to say that’s the only thing that helps just a little bit).
And I don’t want to go to the doctor, I have a feeling he wouldn’t take me so serious, since it’s not life threathining.
Any ideas? I read and tried so many things for years now, I’m starting to loose hope.

Thanks!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

There are several reasons why a person might have facial redness. Here are just a FEW possibilities:
- genetics / heredity / hormones
- allergy
- medication induced
- high blood pressure
- hyperpyrexia / rosacea
- lupus

The redness of rosacea is often aggravated by frequent, involuntary blushing, and causes small blood vessels in the face to dilate and become more visible through the skin, appearing like you’re constantly blushing. This can eventually turn into a red rash or tiny red lines over the cheeks & nose. Over time, repeated episodes of flushing and blushing may promote inflammation.
There also seems to be a hereditary component to rosacea in a large number of people.

For an accurate, professional diagnosis consult your doctor or a certified dermatologist.
It’s always easier to treat something when you actually know what it is you’re dealing with.

In the meantime, there’s certainly ways to keep some facial redness under control and less noticeable.

Drink more water and avoid all alcohol & caffeine products (coffee, tea, pop, etc..) Alcohol & caffeine will actually dehydrate your skin. Water re-hydrates from the inside out. As well, drinking water helps to wash out the toxins in your body.

Increase your omega 3 fatty acids by taking supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil, fish oils, etc… And by eating walnuts, hazelnuts, or pecan nuts (if you’re not allergic)
Ground Fennel seeds and Flax seeds, as well as Flax seed Oil supplements (omega 3’s) also act as anti-inflammatories. (reduce redness)
Omega 3’s aid in proper digestion and healthier skin.

Try increasing your intake of vitamin D through supplements (1000 – 4000 IU/day) and B-complex to aid in healthier skin and maintaining a healthier immune system.

When it comes to make-up and skin conditions, less is better, as your skin needs to breathe to heal.

There are products you can buy that are specifically made to help reduce facial redness:
- LaTherapie Paris has a fortifying skin cream that is supposed to help soften high colour (reduce redness)
- There is a face cream called ROSACURE which is an anti-redness cream formulated to reduce redness for rosacea-prone skin types. (even if it’s not rosacea)
- Guinot has a face cream called RED LOGIC which claims to neutralize the appearance of red blood vessels.

I know there are other brands and products that may be similar. You need to find the one that works best with your skin and your body chemistry.

Moisturize:
- if possible use lotion containing certified green algae or aloe vera gel (use lotions, not creams, as lotion is more gentle on the skin and absorbs more easily)
- Neutrogena makes an excellent moisturizer, simply called “Moisture”. It’s oil-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free and they have a type that is specifically made for sensitive skin.

Check out these site to learn about possible Triggers…
- http://www.drnase.com/misc_2.htm

Here are a few other helpful, (and natural) hints for a better complexion for a lifetime:
- avoid any products with alcohol. Alcohol can actually burn & irritate sensitive skin tissue.
- only use gentle, fragrance-free, oil-free, alcohol-free cleansers on your face.
- have a daily facial cleansing routine (2x daily, morning & night. Do not scrub as this will irritate the skin)

- avoid extended periods in direct sun (use sunblock for sensitive skin, with 15 – 30 spf)
- avoid extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, windy…)
- avoid really hot things. Hot showers & hot tubs, hot drinks (the heat will dilate blood vessels causing more redness)

- avoid spicy foods, greasy foods, and foods with a high refined-sugar content. (these foods disrupt the natural digestive processes of the body)
- eat foods high in anti-oxidants; such as blueberries, cranberries, purple grapes, broccoli, etc..
- drink pure green tea (matcha), rose hip tea, and fennel tea (great antioxidants)

Many people find food with histamines aggravate their redness and a more alkaline diet is extremely helpful.

- try to cut down on stress (stress can magnify a multitude of conditions)
- try to get at least 7 – 8 hours of sleep each night (aids in the healing processes of the body)

OH yea about the color part, I didn’t have a very good light in there at the time, but the white tank i had on had color on one side like hot pink yellow orange and blue. and I didn’t put on any of the jewlery i’m wearing with it either!
I totally agree; nothing but lies and fear tactics; they have orders from Murdoch to distort the truth; Try to radicalize the Egyptians and their revolution as much as possible; however when you realize that Fox News were the main cheerleader for Iraq illegal war; since no WMD;s and no 9/11 connection; the same war mongering machine is at work trying to radicalize Egyptians; even though 8 million Egyptians are Coptic Christians; guess they never mention them. However i understand why Rupert Murdoch an Australian Zionist and a true patriot to Israel; who is pushing through his world media the Muslim Bro agenda; sometimes i think that Zionists are defiantly funding the Muslim Bro; Not once Fox News mentioned Wael Ghoneim google executive responsible for Facebook revolution.

My God some of the answers you recieved are just a bunch of idiot Americans; the kind who think George Bush Jr is still the greatest president ever and they proudly voted for him twice.
Yes, it does. When you deactivate your account, your profile and all its associated information are immediately made inaccessible to other Facebook users. Although this means that you effectively disappear from the service, your information will remain saved by Facebook so that you can reactivate your account whenever you want on the condition that 24 hours have passed since the deactivation.

Crossdressing Rant/advice?

This is just a rant for me, so you don’t have to answer or give your opinion if you don’t wish to. Or maybe you may agree with me, or maybe you may strongly disagree. I started crossdressing when I was probably around 19 years old. I first started out when wearing a mother’s bra and panties. The feeling felt amazing and it also made me feel very sexy.

From there, I started to get clothes from ebay, since wearing my mother’s clothing would be awful. I purchased skirts, thongs, ,and bras. When I do this on my own free time and when no one is around, I feel very relaxed and confident about myself. The feminine side of me helps take the stress away. Usually when I take a shower, I would put on a abercrombie bikini and then fantasize about women and relieve myself. Then I would just take it off and go on doing my business. I was kinda of curious on how thongs felt so I decided to purchase one. The size i got and material was very uncomfortable, and then I wondered why girls wore thongs. I then purchased some victoria secret thongs, and their low rise v-string are the most comfy I’ve ever felt. You barely feel anything when you put them on. Even better, no one can see them when I wear my clothes!!!! Also, I must admit that I hated wearing jeans from the start. My boxers/briefs would always bunch up and it would drive me crazy always fixing my area down there…I turned to just wear kakis since it was loose and I had some freedom. When I wore the thongs, it was amazing…It wouldn’t bunch up and it was very comfortable wearing jeans. Now I wear jeans mostly every where I go!! (And yes, i have tried men’s thongs and simply they are not the same as women‘s and there are not as comfy. ) While wearing these thongs, I feel very confident about myself and I feel I can do almost anything. It also helps me motivated on doing my homework etc… I recently gotten a sports bra and athletic women shorts and this also improved and motivated me to exercise and tone myself daily. So crossdressing or fetish, I feel this has really helped me feel good about myself and also help me become successful as an individual.

If you have any advice on what other comfortable and sexy women‘s clothes/garments there are out there, I would love to hear it.

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Is this a fetish? What? You are using feminine clothing to get your brain to release dopamine and other neurotransmitters to produce sensations of well-being, and sexual gratification. That is exactly what a fetish is!

You’ve noticed that you get a great big erection from wearing feminine clothing – fetish.
You masturbate (relieve yourself) while wearing feminine clothing – fetish.
You’ve noticed that doing the same thing over and over again causes your brain to fatigue and release less dopamine, and you find yourself pushing the envelope and taking greater risks to get your brain to release more dopamine and improve the thrill. Fetish.

It is just as if your brain is interpreting cross-dressing for actual contact with a female. Yes, it can be used as a substitute for human intimacy. That why it makes you feel good. But, it’s still not the same thing.

You want to find something comfortable? Try wearing slips: half-slip, full-slip or even nylon sleepwear. Try them all together so that they slide against each other and feel so sensual. Extreme comfort. It will be your favorite way to fall asleep.

woMEN (funny)?

Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, but there’s no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day with the following exercises a week before the exam, you will be totally prepared for the test — and best of all — you can do these simple practice exercises right in your home.

EXERCISE ONE: Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest friends slam the door shut as hard as possible — and then lean on the door for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds. Repeat again in case the first time wasn’t effective enough.

EXERCISE TWO: Go into your garage at 3 a.m. when the temperature of the cement floor is just right. Take off all your clothes and lie comfortably on the floor with one breast wedged under the rear of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until your breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Turn over and repeat for the other breast.

EXERCISE THREE: Freeze two metal b
bookends overnight. Strip to the waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Press the bookends together as hard as you can. Set an appointment with the stranger to meet next year and do it again.

You are now properly prepared. Final thoughts for women readers:

MENtal illness MENstrual cramps MENtal breakdown MENopause

Ever notice how all of women‘s problems start with men? Send this to all of the women you know and brighten their day – and when we have real trouble – it’s HISterectomy.

Wait until your baby is two months old before dieting
It’s best not to do anything consciously to lose weight until after the second month. This gives your body enough time to successfully establish a healthy milk supply that is less likely to be adversely affected if your caloric intake is restricted. Breastfeeding your baby, on average, burns 200-500 calories per day (above what you needed to maintain your pre-pregnancy weight) — so keep in mind that even without a weight loss program you are burning extra calories.

Breastfeed without restriction
Research tells us that both more frequent breastfeeding and breastfeeding longer than six months increases maternal weight loss.

From personal experience:
- with dd1, i gained 42lbs but by the time she was 4months old, i was back into my larger non-pregnancy clothes by 8months old, i was back in my regular sized clothes.

- with dd2 – i nursed throughout pregnancy on top of chasing around a VERY active toddler – so i had a hard time gaining weight. I barely gained 25lbs. I am now tandem nursing my 4month old and 2yr old and by 2months postpartum, i was already in my regular clothes.

So most likely, you won’t need to actively diet…just eat healthy, go on a morning or evening walk (which is good you and baby for a variety of reasons)

why don’t MOST women respect their bodies anymore?

first of all, please notice that i said MOST, NOT ALL. i’m not saying every single girl or woman is like this. but the majority (51%) are. in america, i mean.
my definition of body goes beyond boobs and genitalia. i feel like the skin above the knees is a little too personal to be sharing with everyone, and i’m saving that for my husband. a lot of girls wear shorts that are as short as my underwear! ever heard of leaving some for the imagination?
and a lot of women openly show their backs without feeling uncomfortable. it just seems odd to me.
i’m NOT telling you what to do if you dress this way, i’m just asking you why you do it.
and i’m not saying all women should wear baggy, oversized clothing. it’s just that i’ve never shown more than my ankles when i go out, and i don’t wear sleeves short enough to show my ankles, and i get compliments on how stylish i dress all the time.
i wear jeans in the summer, and i’m fine. i don’t dehydrate or get a heat stroke or anything. it’s about conditioning. and if i’m exercising in the heat, i’ll just wear jogging pants. i can feel every light breeze in them.
if a top is very revealing, i’ll just throw a light sweater over it.
i just don’t get why most women feel like they need to show skin. it’s unnecessary. i get a lot of respect from the people around me because i dress nice but (what is NOW considered) conservatively. and i still get asked out by guys who see me for what i am inside, not just my body.
i know it’s not the 19th century. but that’s my point! how did our society come to accept this so quickly? and it’s not an equality issue, or men would be doing this too
Second of all, my legs and my back aren’t Sexual areas anymore then a Males Legs and Back are— Most men don’t generally show skin above the knees, and don’t wear clothing that accentuates the curves in their back.
by the way the second comment that i added was quoting Alessia, sorry if that confused anyone
@Alessia: notice that you said “for a while.” then people realized they didn’t want to see that much skin.
and read the second additional note again. i wasn’t talking about not wearing a shirt, i was saying they don’t wear SHIRTS that SHOW OFF their backs.
@Alessia: and i don’t know about you, but this isn’t exactly the picture of attraction for me: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/sTPXOnN84dT/Third+Annual+Nutrition+Advisory+Council+Symposium/r4xVtdEacKS/Richard+Simmons
double standards are the root of the problem.
@Alessia: WOAH, calm down! every time someone doesn’t agree with you, it doesn’t mean they’re biting your head off!
i know i’m me and you’re you, i said in the details of my question that obviously you’re free to dress how you want.
you just answered my question by saying you wear those clothes to “feel attractive.” i’m confident enough in myself and my looks to NOT have to flaunt my body. i’m proud of my body because i work hard to keep it looking good, but it’s not for the whole world to look at.
and if you notice, i’ve been POLITELY disagreeing with you, without once calling you “a complete idiot” or an equivalent of that. please realize (and again, i don’t mean to be rude) that this weakens other’s perception of you and makes you seem immature. i’m NOT saying that you are, i’m just saying that we should be able to discuss this calmly. please.

You’d either have to re-schedule your shift or the interview.
It is possible that you can work two jobs, but it’s pretty hard and very tiring. But there shouldn’t be any conflict as long as the hours you work for both stores do not intertwine with one another.

By the way, this has nothing to do with horoscopes.

2002 Ford Escape hesitates to start every great once in a while, any guesses what it might be?

Every great once in a while — like once every couple of months or so, my ’02 Ford Escape doesn’t want to turn over. When it happens I have to hold the key on and let it crank for 30 seconds or so and then it will turn over. One of my guesses is, it might be doing this after sitting in direct sun for several hours, but I’m not sure.

Is there anything that Escape’s are notorious for, that might be causing this? Any speculations what it might be?

I know I should take it to a garage — but since it happens so sporadically I forget about it — and more than likely the garage won’t be able to duplicate the problem.

Try this… Turn the key to the “ON” position….wait 30 seconds…then fire it up….
Fuel injection is a high fuel pressure system.
Somehow after the vehicle sits a while the fuel system will lose pressure causing the motor to crank longer to build up the necessary pressure to deliver adequate fuel to the motor.
Turning on the key also turns on the electric fuel pump in your gas tank creating the necessary pressure. It should fire up much quicker! Try it…… Also getting the fuel filter changed wouldn’t hurt anything either! Good Luck!

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

I agree that you may have a faulty switch.. One question I would ask you is; when you put it in the off position are you giving it enough time to stop. Some systems have a slight delay time after they are turned off. If it continues to run, then it is surely something within your ignition and control switch..

Your wiper relay could also be sticking, not common, but possible. I thought of this because you explained that you have to turn your ignition off to stop it.. Check that relay as well..

It doesn’t take Freon (which was the trade name for R-12) it takes Suva (which is the trade name for R-134a). It usually costs about $7-$10 for 12oz. Your car probably holds 34oz. Total (2.2 lbs). To have a shop recharge the system will be anywhere from $100-$250 depending on the shop and time of year.

One of the advantages of keeping the room warm in ANY exercise environment is to keep your muscles ‘soft’ and flexible. Beeing in cold temps make your muscles less flexible than they are in the warmth.. Also helps prevent things like charlie horses and knots.

Yoga Wear Guru answers:

Yoga comes from the person, not from the room. Yoga can be done in a professional studio just as well as it can be done in your bedroom or outdoors in an open field. Recent fads seem to require using a 6′ sticky yoga mat, but really even that’s not entirely necessary.

But current trends for yoga studios usually include the following atmosphere: dim lighting, sometimes candles are lit. Mellow music. Everyone has their own yoga mat. Wear form-fitting clothing, for example avoid wearing a loose shirt that will flip over your head while you’re in an inverted position, and yoga pants are better than shorts because some poses can be revealing, so pants make sure you’re comfortably covered. I prefer doing yoga outdoors (weather permitting) or in a studio with the artificial lights turned out, and natural light coming through the windows. Some studios offer yoga classes in which they make the room uncomfortably warm and humid. The participants wear very little clothing, and profuse sweating is an integral part of the workout.
